Restarting The 8 Port SE WDM Demo Driver

If you are evaluating the 8 Port SE WDM driver using the demo version of the driver you will notice that the driver stops functioning after ten minutes. To avoid having to reboot every time after ten minutes you can also restart the driver to get it working again. To do this follow the next steps.

Step 1

Click on the 'Start' button in the lower left corner. Go to the item 'My Computer' in the start menu. Right click on it. From the popup menu select the option 'Properties'.

A dialog with the title 'System Properties' appears. Click on the tabpage 'Hardware'. On the tabpage click on the button 'Device Manager'.

The 'Device Manager' dialog appears. You will see a list of all installed hardware. Scroll to the category 'Sound, video and game controllers' and click on the plus sign before it. A list of all devices in this category appears. Right click on the item '8 Port SE WDM Demo Version'. A little submenu appears where you can select the option 'Disable'.

Step 4

A dialog comes up asking you whether you really want to disable this device. Click on the button marked 'Yes'.

The system will be busy for a short while disabling the device. After a screen refresh you will see the same device list but the device '8 Port SE WDM Demo Version' will have a little red cross through its icon. Right click on the device again. Now you can select the option 'Enable'. The device will be started again and you can use it for another ten minutes.
